Hands on - Number Counting

"Number Counting and placing of objects"-
The use of numbers is a skill developed from an early age. In mathematics, there is the term “number sense”, a relatively new construct that refers to a well organized conceptual framework of number information that enables a child to understand numbers and numbers relationships.
Counting is the action of finding the number of elements of a finite set of objects by continually increasing a counter by a unit. Counting seems to look like a simple skill, when one watches children call out the numbers in a sequence. Children count different objects in the same group like learning the concept of number as quantity and Cardinality is the idea that the final number of the sequence represents the amount of objects that were counted.

Numbers on the Apple 🍎 Tree 🎄

The number chart helps children understand both how our number system works, and how numbers relate to each other. Children who develop number sense have a range of mathematical strategies at their disposal. They know when to use them and how to adapt them to meet different situations.
